The European Questions
I am generally 'pro Europe', whatever that means. However, this does not mean that every statement and action uttered by the 400 million people 'in Europe' is something I will always agree with. But that does not mean I want to pull out of Europe just because I don't always agree. Indeed it says to me we have to engage more fully to make sure that our voice is heard.
In fact the more the diatribe I hear from people like UKIP, the more I believe in working together for a fair deal in Europe is in our interests.
Of course the first thing to recognise is that we are already in Europe by the virtue of our geography. We cannot pretend the most important strategic alliance on our doorstep is going to go away if we ignore it, as the Tories tried to do. No our only way is to engage positively and shape the future of Europe from the inside.
