If you have an interest in this area at all or have concerns about the regulations that have now passed through the House, please read this article in which I set out my understanding of the issue in the light of the Christian message and what motivated me to take the position I did on this issue.

I hope you will find this informative.

Debunking the Myths

I am personally mystified and deeply why fellow Christians want to single out homosexuality and wish to be able to discriminate against people in our service to others. Why are we not discriminating against the Rich - Jesus had more to say about poverty than homosexuality

The lobby by SOME of the more extreme Christian organisations against the Sexual Orientation Regulations continues a depressing theme from some of them. An obsession with sexuality distorts both the view of Christians from those with little or no faith and depresses the vast numbers of Christians who do not share these distorted views.

Most Christians who understand the love of God and study the life of Christ will know full well that Jesus would despair at the lack of grace and love showed by these loud protesters.

As the myths and lies have grown in some of the adverts put out by these groups I become ashamed to be associated with some of my Christian brothers and sisters. I would urge those who have fallen for the lies in the media adverts to consider the following (with more rebuttals to come as more lies are told) and to read the comments and other articles I will post here.

Sexual Orientation Regulations and Why Some Christians Have Got it Wrong Again!

Myths about the regulations:

Unfortunately, some organisations are peddling some ridiculous myths. Contrary to some claims, the regulations will not:

• require anyone to start providing goods, facilities or services that they do not usually provide (e.g. a gay holiday company will not be obliged to provide new services of interest to heterosexual couples and their families).

• require schools to promote gay rights or homosexuality in schools as part of the curriculum. Some of the lobbying on this has been misleading, irresponsible and dishonest.

• make it unlawful for an individual to express views about homosexuality or homosexual sexual practice, regardless of whether or not such views were grounded in religious belief.

• stop religious bookshops from stocking the Bible, Qur’an or other religious texts that include statements about homosexual sexual practice.

• require religious organisations (including churches, mosques and temples) to include lesbians, gay men or bisexual people in the practice or observance of their religion, whether it is by marrying a gay couple, or offering them sacrament.
