Out Of Hours Services
At its meeting on 10th May, the Leicestershire County and Rutland Primary Care Trust Board received proposals aimed at improving the provision of urgent primary care services outside normal GP surgery opening hours. The Out of Hours Primary Care Services Review outlines a number of recommendations, which are aimed at improving the services offered to the whole community.
The Board has said it will consider the reports’ recommendations on each element of the service and actively encourage residents and service-users to give their views on the proposals. The PCT has also promised to undertake formal public consultation where the recommendations propose significant service changes.
I will post details of such consultations here whenever I hear of them.
I will be reading the proposals very carefully to ensure that positive steps forward are taken and that the services we rely on in Loughborough are not negatively affected.
The walk-in centre in Loughborough has been a massive success and one of our best achievements and I am very proud of the service it is providing not just to Loughborough residents but to those in the surrounding communities who also benefit.
I have already met with Health Minister Andy Burnham MP to be reassured that walk-in centres are vital and I have written to the PCT to say I will oppose any reduction in services not matched by increases elsewhere. I am not against reform but I am against cost cutting for its own sake.
You can read the proposals in full in the document below. If you have any concerns please respond to Leicestershire County & Rutland PCT and/or write to me.
