Loughborough MP Called Up for Olympic Bill Committee
Loughborough MP Andy Reed was this week called up to be part of the influential Olympic Bill Committee in Parliament.
Reed, a strong local advocate of the importance of sport, has had his contribution recognised nationally by being asked to join the Olympic Standing Committee discussing the forthcoming 2012 Olympics in London.
Reed is hopeful that the Olympics will see Loughborough as a regional sporting centre benefiting from Olympic investment coming into the country.
Reed said:
“I am delighted to have been called up to serve on this committee and to have had my contribution to sport recognised in some small way. The Olympics will be very important for sport in this country, not just in London but for areas like Loughborough too.
“I am going to ensure Loughborough remains at the centre of the Olympic plans and benefits from the extra funding coming into Britain as a result of these major sporting championships.”
