Local MP Calls for Awards for Residents Standing Up to Anti-Social Behaviour

Local MP Andy Reed has called for people in Loughborough to nominate local residents for new Taking a Stand Awards.

The Taking a Stand Awards recognise local people who take a stand in their local communities against anti-social behaviour.

Reed said:

“I am asking for local people to write in with the names of residents they feel should win an award for the work they are doing in their communities to battle anti-social behaviour. I am sure there are many people living in and around Loughborough who deserve recognition for the efforts they making locally in this fight.

“Anti-social behaviour destroys local communities and that is why the Government has introduced new powers so that police and local authorities can help tackle the problems. But it is an ongoing problem, and often those doing some of the most important work on a day-to-day basis in their own area do not get the recognition they deserve. That is why I feel a Taking a Stand Award would be a fitting accolade.

“People who wish to nominate someone for an award can either send details to myself, or complete an online form at www.takingastand.org . The closing date for nominations is 13th January 2006.”
