Reed Acts Swiftly on Mumps Vaccination Issue

Just days after his General Election success Loughborough MP Andy Reed has taken swift action for his constituents concerned about the availability of the mumps vaccination. Figures published in the Leicester Mercury today showed 629 cases of the illness being recorded in Leicestershire so far during 2005.

Following representations from residents in Burton on the Wolds concerned about the availability of mumps vaccinations at the local Health Centre, Reed has today taken the issue up with local health chiefs.

Speaking from Loughborough Reed said “it’s extremely important that local GP’s are able to vaccinate those people who are highly at risk such as all children and young adults”. He added “I have made urgent representations to senior managers at Charnwood & North West Leicestershire NHS Primary Care Trust to ensure that in Loughborough as throughout the county, all those requiring vaccinations should be able receive them without delay”.
