PCT Consultation on Community Health Services Review - Summer 2008

Walk-in-Centre Review 2008

The above document makes the suggestion that the current excellent walk-in-centre in Loughborough should be relocated to the Loughborough hospital on Epinal Way.

As I have said in the past I prefer the town centre position for a number of reasons - mainly access to those without transport. On clinical grounds I am sure this would lead to an overall improved service for many patients and therefore the PCT should weigh up closely the responses it gets from patients of inconvenience versus potential improved services. The number of people not using their own transport to reach the walk in centre should be carefully measured and if the impact is significant ways to improve any public transport links should be further improved.

I have been heavily involved in the walk in centre since before its inception and got involved in lobbying for its original funding. Therefore, I take a deep interest in it being a continued success for the 60,000 patients a year who now use it.
