MP Hails Wymeswold's “Great Community Spirit”
Local MP Andy Reed has praised local residents in Wymeswold for their campaign to get better GP provision for their area. As well as submitting entries to the Wymeswold Parish Plan, many residents have written to Andy.
Andy was so impressed by the effort local people have put into the campaign that he said earlier:
“It is clear that many people in Wymeswold possess a great community spirit. Many of the letters I have read are from people who are concerned about others, not just themselves”.
Andy pointed out that local services were receiving historic amounts of investment. Under Labour, Loughborough has seen spending on health rise significantly. Despite the local and national success, Andy had a stark warning for the Government:
“Everyone knows that the NHS is better off in Labour hands. However, it is only fair that everyone gets their fair share. The people of Wymeswold deserve better GP provision, it’s that simple”.
Andy has set up a meeting for Monday where Wymeswold Parish Council will meet his colleagues to discuss the way forward.
“I have been in touch with Ministers at the Department of Health, but it is vital that we keep in touch with local campaigners. Local people often know the best solutions for their area”.
Andy urged Wymeswold residents to be realistic about the process and again added his support. “Despite the great work local people have done there is still a lot more to do. I’m committed to helping them”
