'Massage Parlours' in Shepshed
Autumn 2005
I am pleased to report that following a local campaign and meetings I hosted between the Police and local campaigners action was taken by the Police and the 'Massage Parlours' have now left the town centre.
I continue to work on the wider issue of Licensing and control of these establishments in parliament and will be asking Parliamentary questions of the Home Office.
March 2005
When I was alerted to a Planning Application in early 2005 for a 'massage parlour' in Shepshed I supported the call for it not to be granted. Unfortunately the owners had given certain undertakings to the Police and lanning Department and surprisingly the Borough Council had already approved the change of use.
I support the views of residents that Shepshed does not want to create the wrong sort of image and ancourage this type of establishment. We have worked hard to sell the advantages of Shepshed to aid its regeneration. I will do what I can to support residents to keep this kind of establishment within the law.
