Loughborough MP Andy Reed this week congratulated Burleigh Community College as it was announced that the school has attained specialist status in sports.
Specialist schools are committed to raising standards of teaching and learning across the curriculum and to strengthening awareness and ability in their chosen specialist subjects.
Reed said:
“I am delighted that Burleigh has achieved specialist status in sports. I have written to the school to congratulate them and hope that this will help further develop sporting ability at the school and in the local community.
“Specialist status means not only a commitment to the chosen specialist field but also to raising overall standards in teaching and learning. It is for this reason that the Government wants every school in the country to combine institutional focus and excellence with collaboration and sharing of best practice with partner schools and the wider community.
“This is great news for the staff and pupils at Burleigh and local families.”
