I did start to draft a new year message but as I started and I felt worse I started losing the will to complete it. The problem was not doing the message but realising this if I didn't mention every conceivable take on the world in 2009 I would be attacked by somebody for ignoring their pet hate/ love / passion.
Quite often when a complete a brief outline of a few things that have happened during the day or week somebody always moans that I haven't mentioned issue X or incident Y & therefore I don't care etc etc. So sometimes its better to stay quite and not upset anybody in this job. So consequently as I felt too bad to post a quarter finished article it sits on my laptop unfinished and there it will remain for now!
Sorry I have been away for a few days on my sick bed. I am now running at about 40% so there is lots to catch up on.
I have been twittering from my sick bed. A mobile handset - web and some small applications and I fee in touch with the world even in bed!
I have been following the situation in Gaza. As I said before I was at the Ezra crossing only 15 months ago when we were attacked by a Hamas rocket. I will blog some more about this as I am getting lots of emails. I have quite a few personal financial emails so I will blog on the economy too later.
But I also wanted to give regular readers advance notice that my website will be updated and improved in the next couple of weeks. So you may see some strange things happening - but don't worry. The idea is to give you instant access to my Tweets, Facebook, Youtube etc all in one place. Just visit the site and hey presto it is all there for you. This will bring interaction and live democracy a stage nearer. I will Tweet about the legislation and votes coming up and hot topics of the day. You can join me on Twitter or facebook and take place in the debate. All exciting stuff. Better than waiting for my paper annual report to drop through the door with about 20 stories on it - form the hundreds posted every year. But if there is something you would like to see please let me know. Before it's too late!
Andy

The Gaza still continues to dominate the headlines today and rightly so. Once again I put a link to my Flickr site and the photos I took of the Wall amongst other things.
I still stand by what I have said. Whilst nobody condones Hamas for its rocket attacks - did I mention I was near one that landed when I was there ? - the disproportionate attack on Gaza needs condemning and a ceasefire immediately. This is just recruiting more to the hatred of Israel.
I have also been caught by a few local stories too. Radio Leicester ran on the difficulties faced by retail centres like Loughborough. I agree that the Rushed may now struggle to find a new store in this climate with Woolworth and Zavvi gone. I have been in talks with the Borough Council and the Town Partnership to ask what I can do to help. Always happy to bang some heads together. This was followed by a story about a future shortage of Morris Dancers. Isn't local radio great?
I have been made aware that residents in Mountsorrel near the industrial park and quarry are unhappy about the proposal to move the recycling and amenity site from Sileby. At a first glance it seems to make perfect sense but I guess those living closest will have understandable fears. I will get hold of the detailed proposals before commenting. There may be a way to get the bost of both worlds.
But as I know its impossible to please everybody.
